The performance of student in each course shall be evaluated through continuous assessment consisting of Internal and External Examinations, Assignments and Attendance as per the guidelines of IKG Punjab Technical University.All evaluations of different components of a course are done in marks for each student. The marks obtained in theory/practical courses or other teaching components are scaled to 100 (40 internal evaluation+60 external evaluation for Theory paper and 30 internal evaluation + 20 external evaluation for Practical paper) up to next integer value.

Examination

Students are required to attend classes regularly and minimum of 75% Attendance is mandatory as per IKG Punjab Technical University Rules. If a student is falling short of attendance of the required 75% attendance at the end of a calendar month, then he/she shall be warned to be regular in future. Also the parents of students shall be informed telephonically or registered letter. If need be, the parents shall also be called in the institute to apprise them about the poor attendance of student.

Assignments are the important part of the evaluation system. There are minimum two assignments which are to be submitted by student as per the instructions of the concerned teacher. Students are required to submit assignments within specified time. The internal marks allotted to the assignments are worked out at the end of the semester proportionally. There is no provision for selecting two, three or more best assignments for calculating internal marks..

There are two mid semester tests conducted as per guidelines of IKG Punjab Technical University. Both the mid semester tests are counted for awarding the internal marks.

The experiments performed by the students and job prepared are evaluated by the concerned teacher. The proportionate marks of the Laboratory Work are calculated from the day to day work.

The internal marks of each subject are awarded to student as per following distribution: Presentation/MST’s =60%, Assignments =25%, Attendance =15%

Re-evaluation, Re-appear, Improvement and UMCcases are dealt with as per rules and regulations of IKGPunjab Technical University, Kapurthala.

Students can access the IKG PTU Examination Portal to view exams related instructions and their results.
